This scene is one of my favorite movie scenes. The guy in this movie is called Rodger, He is a alpha man with a deep vulnerablity. You will have to watch the movie to see what that is. In this scene, in his own way he is trying to give “advice” to this young lady. He goes into how her personality is a mix of upbringing and what society has implanted in her. Points that I agree with.
The part of this scene that struck a cord to me was that he mentions that if he were to analyze her father he could create the perfect persona to make her attracted to him. Which made me think, when you hear a person mentions daddy issues it is always associated with negativity. Such as people saying that strippers have daddy issues because of their profession.
But what if we took a step back….do all women have daddy issues? Personally I’d say so. When I mean “issues” I mean that their father is one of , if not the most influential men in their life and has a great effect on the men that a woman is attracted to.
A woman’s father is the first major male figure in her life, she grows up with him and learns different aspects of his personality. That she either loves or hates. In a way, her father is her first “Boyfriend”. For example, if a woman grows up with a controlling father. She learns that she doesn’t like being controlled, and a because of that. A controlling man is a a turn off for her and now all men that are controlling in her eyes are considered “no -nos”. So her father influenced her choice of men.
This could also go the other way in the way that perhaps, she and her father played a lot of sports together and he was a competitive man. She realizes she likes competitive men and this grows into a attraction for sport athletes because of there competitive profession. Since she is more attracted to sports athlete, this will mean that she also prefers men who are fit, etc.
So in that way. All women have daddy “issues”. This makes the quote Rodger says in the video ring so true ” Hes not Daddy, He is just a man in a suit”
